Carmen Ortiz-McGhee is a dynamic leader and steadfast advocate for inclusion in asset management. As Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), she drives operational excellence, financial optimization, and organizational culture. Recognized for her principled stewardship and steadfast commitment to NAIC’s core values, Carmen leads all initiatives, including research, events, marketing and member engagement, supporting the largest network of diverse-owned alternative investment firms, whose members manage over $460 billion in institutional capital.
Before NAIC, Carmen was Senior Vice President at Aon plc, driving growth across all product lines and serving on Aon’s Inclusion Committee. While there, she was recognized as one of Business Insurance magazine’s Top 25 Women to Watch. Her career also includes serving as Vice President of Investor Relations at a $1 billion AUM real estate private equity firm and President of The Marathon Club (TMC), where she championed wealth creation for underrepresented communities.
A sought-after speaker, Carmen has addressed global organizations on many topics related to leadership and inclusion. Additionally, she serves on multiple national boards including the University of Virginia Alumni Association Board of Managers, Communities in Schools, the MBA Fund 1 Investment Committee and the HIP PowerUp Fund Impact Committee.
