Mervin ("Merv") Burton serves as Partner, Research at Beatrice Advisors, leveraging over two decades of experience as a senior portfolio manager at various institutions, including a large foundation, an endowment, a pension fund, and multiple family offices. In his role, he is responsible for delivering active investment research, including asset allocation, manager selection, and risk management. Merv works closely with the client advisory and investment management teams to develop tailored investment strategies that align with each client's unique financial objectives and values.
Merv began his career as a Financial Analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. before transitioning to Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM. He then joined IBM Retirement Funds as a Senior Investment Manager, where he held several positions including head of Public Equity and Hedge Funds, as well as serving on the Strategy team. Following his tenure at IBM, Merv became the Investment Director at Lafayette College, where he also served as Interim Chief Investment Officer. Most recently, he held the position of Managing Director at Carnegie Corporation, overseeing a $4bn+ endowment portfolio.
Throughout his career, Merv has been actively involved in various boards. In 2015, he helped establish Atmosphere Academy, a charter school in the Bronx, NY. He has served as an advisor to large investment organizations, and currently serves on the advisory board for a single-family office based in Texas/New York.
Merv holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Merv is an avid runner as has completed multiple marathons.
